Asian Dramas
Ever since I first started taking Japanese in college, I got into Asian dramas!
I gotta say, they are much better than the western ones here in the US. The Asian ones are shorter but in a way that's what makes them better. Each episode tends to be focused on a specific character and doesn't drag on into say 12 seasons later. It ends at a good point and they all tend to have a good message going along with them. That being said I decided to write about my top Japanese & Korean dramas!

Japanese
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [Hana Kimi-2007]: Hana Kimi follows a girl that has made her way into an all boys school. The boys tend to be the cool, popular type & are divided in certain club types. On the daily they get confessed at by the girls from other school. Our main protagonist joins the school in order to get a famous Japanese track star to rejoin the team. But while she is there she meets many colorful characters and eventually she gets accepted as one of them. It gets to the point that one of the guys starts to question his sexual orientation once he realizes he is starting to gain romantic feelings towards her. The show overall is comedic, filled with cheesy cgi animations, catchy songs and it has a cast that you end up loving.

9.2/10

Tumbling: Sweet baby llama, I don't even know where to begin with this one! I love this one so much!
Our story first starts with the Japanese Rhythmic Gymnastics team, at first they don't have enough members to join their club and the girls team is always belittling them. The team captain has faith that one day they will get to perform but not having enough members always hinders them from entering competitions. Cue, Wataru- leader of a gang, he is: hot headed, chews anyone out, a fighter but most of all he is loyal, dedicated, hard working and fair. When an opponent doesn't have an equal chance in fighting he chooses not to duke it out with them. He eventually joins the club (due to his lack of credits in school) and eventually tries his hardest with the team. Overall this show has hardships, friendship, conflict & achievement. It is just so heartwarming to see a show like this. What is even more impressing is that the actors all performed their own stunts! This show is really great & I don't want to give much of it away!

Korean
Shut Up Flower Boy Band: This show follows a group of best friends that are sort of a popular underground band, with flocking woman by their sides. This show gets you attached to the characters and out of nowhere (episode 3) throws you a curve ball- to this day I am still surprised. The guys want to enter a contest but their main composer can't think of anything to write so he sets out to find a muse. The muse becomes a major part of the show and affects the band members. The guys tend to be slackers in school until they have to be moved to an elite school where they get ridiculed for just about anything. They endure a lot of hardship as the show develops & there was even a strain in their friendship due to fame.

9.2/10

Flower Boys Next Door: This show, follows our protagonist that basically stays cooped up in her little apartment room avoiding outside contact as much as possible. She ends up developing a crush on her neighbor.. the one she spies on from across the building.. anyways, she has her daily routine where she just watches him with her binoculars until she gets discovered by his brother. Who is a famous online game developer. He eventually gets her out of her 'dungeon' & helps her to try enjoying life once again, as he tries her neighbor (who has an online web cartoon) gets disturbed by this, it tends to be that both guys just end up bickering at each other trying to decided what is best for her. Her past eventually comes back to haunt her & it shows why she had decided to minimize contact with the outside world. She eventually start developing feelings for one of them but doesn't want to hold him back.

And so, those are my top 4 Asian dramas, well so far! I have seen other ones but for now I feel like these are the top ones that stick out to me the most & I feel like people should check them out for themselves so they can also enjoy dramas that are short but with just as much emotion & story!
